“TX2K was created 18 years ago with the sole purpose of having an event strictly focused on fast street cars,” said Peter Blach, founder of TX2K.

During eliminations, there will be a 5.00 mph breakout rule for the UNLIMITED, Super Sport and Sport brackets (meaning no car can go 5.00 mph or faster than the number 1 qualifier in their bracket during eliminations). After a week of racing, the 25th TX2K is in the books, and champions have been crowned in the 13 drag racing classes, as well as four roll racing classes. With the sale of Houston Raceway Park last year, TX2K was in need of a new home and with only one really big world class drag racing facility left, that meant that TX2K had to move to the Texas Motorplex in Ennis.

It offers one of the most diverse lineups of vehicles, with everything from 6-second S197 Mustangs to twin-turbo supercars blowing out 220-plus-mph runs in roll-racing categories. The TX2K24 edition of the series made the move from its longtime home in Houston to the Texas Motorplex.
